Core Concepts

The shared vocabulary for understanding Aboard Workbench.

  • Workspace: the boundary for context, capabilities, permissions, and work history.
  • Agent: a participant that understands intent, uses context, plans, acts through authority, and reports results.
  • Plugin: an installable capability provider that is activated into a Workspace.
  • Connector: an external connection role, including MCP connections.
  • Provider: an implementation selected for a versioned capability contract.
  • Knowledge Base: governed information context available to authorized Agents and workflows.
  • Workflow: a repeatable product process composed of steps, inputs, triggers, and results.
  • Run: one execution instance of an Agent or Workflow.
  • Draft: a typed proposed change that still needs review and authority validation.
  • Preview: a non-mutating calculation of the likely result and requirements.
  • Grant: explicit permission for a capability or effect.
